About Nicola Ashby

Nicola Ashby

Hey, Im Nic and I would like to thank you for visiting my site.

I am a mum of two beautiful children and run my business around my family life.

I have worked in the fitness industry since 2006 as a fitness instructor, class instructor, personal trainer and then from 2012 as a tutor and assessor.

I absolutely love the way that exercise makes me feel as well as the many physical and social benefits it brings so I try to share this with as many people as possible.

In 2017 I gave birth to my beautiful boy Charlie, I realised there was a real lack of postnatal exercise and advice so I decided this is what I wanted to specialise in (after all getting in a workout with a little one was much more challenging)

In 2018 I relaunched NJ Fitness and Massage teaching a variety of community fitness classes, mum and baby classes as well as sports massage and pre and postnatal massage.

In 2020 I gave birth to Molly and since then I have continued to grow the class timetable, offering a variety of fitness classes, online exercise programmes, nutrition weight loss and wellness programmes, fitness events and even more massage treatments.

It is my mission to help people to make healthy lifestyle changes that are sustainable. Anything is possible with a positive mindset. and the right support.

I've been doing fitness pilates with Nic at NJ Fitness and Massage for a year and a half now and I really enjoy it! I'm not usually keen on group fitness classes but I wanted to try pilates and Nic is such a friendly and welcoming instructor.. she gives options for each exercise so you can stretch yourself or go easy if you've had a hard day! She always listens to feedback from the class and tailors exercises for anyone with injuries. I especially love the relaxation part of the class. If you're thinking of trying pilates I'd definitely recommend trying NJ Fitness and Massage.

I joined Nics Fitmum class when my baby was 12 weeks old, she is now 13 months old and we still love this class! Nics classes are fun, motivational and supportive! I have met some wonderful mums attending this class and have become much fitter thanks to Nics varied workouts! After baby no 2 I was determined to do something for me, to help get back in shape and gain confidence, with the help of Nic I have achieved more than I thought possible! Using a mixture of Nics fit mum class and online diet and exercise plans (Reset & Detox/Midsection Meltdown/Lift Lean) I have lost well over a stone and become more toned but more than that I feel fitter, healthier, more energised and have a great support network to keep me on track.

After having my first child I suffered a lot with back and sciatica pain and struggled to find things that worked for me. I came across Nic after being a part of some of her excellent fitness classes and she was amazing at massage. She really listened to my requirements and offered me great flexibility in appointments which was really helpful. Through having regular sports massages with her she really helped relieve my back and helped me get back to feeling “normal” again. I thoroughly recommend Nic, she is great!

I can’t recommend the fit mum class enough. This was the only class I found that allowed me to bring my 3 year old, and he was welcomed as much as the babies.

Each weeks workout is different, and Nicola provides different options to suit your level.  The class is a great workout whilst being fun, and there is plenty of toys to keep my son entertained.  As someone who always found an excuse not to exercise, I now don’t have one!

I would highly recommend Fitness Pilates with Nic. I have suffered with a bad back for a number of years, but since doing Pilates (for over a year) I have had very few flares ups. I really notice when I haven’t exercised, so for me it is imperative for my health! 
During the sessions, Nic is really informative about the exercises you are doing and offers different options to enable everyone to be included, no matter what their level. The classes are something I look forward to every week! It’s well worth a try!

I cannot recommend Nic and her classes highly enough. I go to her Zumba session on loves farm and coupled with a healthy (ish) diet I have lost 1.5 stone and counting. I’m a terrible dancer with two left feet but Nic is so inclusive, warm and kind it really doesn’t matter and in fact she positively praises ‘spontaneous solos’. I leave every week feeling fabulous after a great shimmy and shake with a group of equally fabulous Zumba goers! If you want to try something a bit different, get fit while having fun then come and join the Zumba crew.. you would be welcomed with open arms by Nic and the group. Thank you Nic!

The Fit Mum classes are a great opportunity to get fit and do some exercise whilst having my little girl with me. I don’t have to worry about childcare or turning out in the evening. The classes are challenging, fun and relaxed and tailor to all fitness levels. I would wholeheartedly recommend them.

I started Nicola’s Midsection Meltdown course with a view to lose a few pounds and get rid of my ‘mum tum’ before the summer. What’s ended up happening is I’ve completely changed my approach to food and the way I think about being healthy. No crazy diets just common sense, moderation and filling up on the good stuff. Wiggle room, yes please, just not every day. I’ve loved the workouts as they’ve challenged me in different ways. Nicola is incredibly supportive, answers any question and the live chats made me feel really supported. Thank you Nicola and can’t wait for the next course.
Just completed the Kickstart Detox programme - and loved the results! Lost 6lbs in two weeks and another 3lbs in the week since completing it! The programme is easy enough to follow, especially with lots of helpful information from Nicola, who is available to assist and answer questions at every step. Her availability and live sessions made me feel like we were in it together. Food prep helped, but wasn’t essential so long as I had eggs and plenty of greens in! And I’m managing to stick to it now (with a few vices) because it’s become second nature. I’m off caffeine for the first time ever and feel great, drinking plenty of water each day, loads of veg and getting in daily workouts. The workouts are varied and short - all abilities and fitnesses can have a go. I liked pairing up a few workouts when I had a bit of time - nothing better than hearing Nic saying “how are you feeling?!” Love that Charlie gets in on the act too! I really enjoyed being part of the Facebook group, all the girls supported each other and there was tonnes of recipe and fitness inspiration. I would really recommend this to anyone wanting to kickstart; it works!

Kick Start was a real kick up the bum for me. I feel much healthier. Friends have commented on how fresh my skin looks (I work in an office). I’m NOT lethargic anymore. Planning is key!! If I plan I know where I am and so does the rest of the family. The workouts fit into my lifestyle and there is no excuse. Having lost over 25lb and making this a lifestyle choice I know I’m on the right track!!
